Dinner in the Sky Excursion – Don’t drop your knife

“Eat Up”

Have you ever asked the host for the “best table” in the place, or for the table with the “best view?” Imagine if this is what you got in response.

The company is called “Dinner in the Sky” and they offer a “unique dining experience that takes place on a table raised 160 to 180 feet in the air.” Each table seats 22 guests, who are pampered by a professional team of mixologists and gourmet chefs offering Four Star-quality service.

We found a great Yelp review that sums up this woman’s experience with Dinner in the Sky, Las Vegas.

Want to scare the crap out of your date???? This is one extreme dinner that you can count on being one of a kind.   My husband thought it would be romantic to take me to dinner overlooking Vegas at a height of over 150 feet.  What he didn’t know is that I would completely freak out and be terrified when I saw what we were going to do.  Well, after a near divorce in the parking lot I came to my senses, got brave and prepared for this wild dinner.  We arrived at the location by Limousine from our hotel.  Upon arrival the red carpet is out and cocktails and appetizers are served while the waivers are being signed.  Once everyone is accounted for the guests are seated at the table.  Shoes are optional.  If you are wearing thongs or heels you may as well leave them on the ground.  Once everyone is strapped in to their seats the crane lifts the table to the desired height.   So here I was terrified in the beginning and once we got going I realized it really wasn’t going to be bad at all.  In fact, I really enjoyed myself.  It was a beautiful night in August 2009 that I got to experience this very memorable evening.  FYI… there were a few people scared of heights but they all survived.  Only one person was super terrified the entire length of the dinner.  It’s definitely worth a try if you like to try different stuff!   The host and other staff were amazing and really tried to make sure the people who were scared were comfortable.   Have fun!

Of course, the #1 question on everyone’s mind: “What if I have to use the restroom?

According to the company’s site, “It is recommended you use the restroom prior to going up on the table. However if you need to use the restroom during your flight, it takes less than a minute to bring the table down.”

The question that we weren’t able to get answered: “What happens if you drop your knife?

  1. Yes, I would love to do dinner in the sky. What excitement that would be, I probably would be checking out the scenery instead of eating. Alas, back to earth, I can’t afford it, number one and number two, couldn’t afford the trip, so I will just have to dream about it. Bummer!!!
